There are many reasons why a couple decides to renew their vows. In the case of my clients, they had been married 30 years ago in South Africa and only had two wedding photos as keepsakes. They wanted to face the challenges they had endured the previous year head on by renewing their vows to each other in the presence of their children, family, and friends.
My client has exquisite taste and had panned some very unique features for this event – namely, that she and her husband each write ten things they loved about each other that would be read during their vows; preparing a dance just for him; having a candy bar with candies that complemented the color scheme; table names reflecting qualities of a lasting marriage (patience, understanding, thoughtfulness, hugs, kisses, etc.); a signature drink; and the ability to keep most of this as a surprise to her husband. The “bride” secretly took dance lessons for a year to surprise her groom with a tango. When it came time for this special dance, all the lights were turned off and a spotlight followed her throughout the entire dance. This was very out of character for her and she knew he would appreciate this more than anything else because it was so hard for her to be the center of attention.
It was my pleasure to be a part of this very meaningful renewal of vows. This couple had had a challenging year, and this was an evening of moving forward. As the evening ended, the couple were radiant with the magic of the evening – celebrating with family and friends, reassurance of sharing their lives, and the indescribable beauty of the room.
Bride & Groom: Thank you seems nowhere near enough. You once again provided us with a day we will never forget. I asked you for Romance, Wow, Fairytale, and you gave that all to us and much more.
I have had so many compliments on the ceremony, the reception, and of course the “candy table.” Every detail was done with so much care and professionalism. Including after all the partying was over, you taking everything up to our suite at whatever time of the morning and making sure the Hotel kept all the flowers and cake fresh for us to take home.
You are truly an amazing person and I have now had the pleasure of experiencing two events planned by you and I look forward to the next. – John & Michelle
