Ray & Sherrill’s 50th Anniversary | September 5, 2009 | Redmond Senior Center – Redmond, WA
View Photos Photography by Jan Domek PhotographyIt was my privilege to work with my Mom and Dad as we planned their 50th Wedding Anniversary party. My Mom was as excited as any of my brides and my Dad was the typical father-of-the-bride or groom – cool, calm, and collected – although truth be told, he was very happy with the idea of celebrating their life together.
Having a wedding consultant as their daughter gave them an extra advantage over most people as we were able to hire awesome vendors and make the room look fantastic. We draped the room in raw silk champagne draperies, the tables were covered with custom linens and overlays, creamy white centerpieces stood in the center of the tables, and the chair covers and sashes completed the look.
The guests were treated to a scrumptious buffet, wedding cake, chocolate fountain, and a candy bar. Mom and Dad had prepared a slide show and they, along with my two brothers and me, spoke briefly on their lives together and how they had influenced and affected our lives. There was also an open mic with memories and stories from lots of friends and relatives!
My parents are the best – and I was thrilled that I was able to be a part of this very special Anniversary! Not a lot of people can say they have made it living with the same person for 50 years. I’m very proud of my parents and the legacy they have established for their family!
THANK YOU:
Mom: “I wish we had enough paper, pen and ink and time to try to express our thanks for our 50th party. Not enough of any of those exists, so the simple THANK YOU will have to suffice, meager as it is. Dad and I could not possibly have been happier with the results. We are STILL having people rave about it. To walk into the room just took our breath away. Thank you for everything. Okay, you’ve done our 25th and 50th, so see you at our 75th!!”
